The GMB have been made aware that the PDR process is being used to carry out ‘integrity checks’ by the imposition of a series of questions designed we are told by our ow HR Department. As a result of complaints from members the GMB challenged the Force in respect of their ethical rights to leap frog on the back of the PDR process an annual integrity check? Whilst the GMB are fully supportive of ‘integrity checking’ they consider the use of the PDR process is the wrong medium to carry this process out. PDR is fundamentally the most important meeting in any members year and is designed to support, assist and develop individuals in role or in their efforts to achieve advancement or lateral movement within the organisation. It is not a process that should be devalued by the imposition of integrity checks. The Force is insistent the checks will be carried out in line with HMIC recommendations but the GMB continue to challenge how and where the checks should be carried out. This is an ongoing issue that once resolved will be reported on again.
