‘THE WORK OF YOUR GMB REPS’
The GMB need more reps to carry out work in support of its members in West Yorkshire Police. Not only do we currently represent members in a whole host of meetings, discipline, equalities issues, maternity, performance etc, but we also sit on numerous Force level boards helping to shape the future of the Force and where necessary challenge the Force about its vision(s) for the future of the service and how it impacts and affects our members. GMB activities are numerous with ‘safety inspections’ across the Force a regular part of our work. A workplace with a recognised union within it is 60% less likely to experience accidents when compared to a none unionised workplace so it is important that members know that safety is one of our primary concerns.
The GMB will be looking to support its reps in Post Incident Management (PIM) training, so we can update our support package for staff in roles that may be affected by incident management. Staff in detention areas, communications as well as other critical roles will benefit from support post incident, and the GMB hope to utilise wide number of resources after this training.
